Castles and wine route Heerlen-Hoensbroek

Your route starts at Hotel Winselerhof. Brunsummerheide. Here you cross over to the highlight of the route (and the wider region): Hoensbroek Castle, one of the largest castles in the Netherlands. And one of the most beautiful! There was already a motte on this spot around 1225. Due to its strategic location on the trade routes to Maastricht, Aachen and Cologne, this original castle developed into the largest castle between the Maas and Rhine. Take a break at the bar terrace of Wijngoed Fromberg, where honest Limburg wines are made! Ter Worm Castle is part of an old estate. The romantic-looking building originally dates from the fifteenth century, the current complex was built in the seventeenth century.
