West Frisian Ring Dike from Bolletjescafé de Klok

Today you start at Bolletjescafé de Klok in Warmenhuizen. Your route takes you through a beautiful part of West Friesland: Enkhuizen and surroundings. This area is enclosed by the West Frisian Omringdijk, the only monumental dike in the world. You drive through an agricultural landscape of sheep pastures and authentic farmhouses. In some places, the fertile soil forms a rich palette of colours from spring to autumn thanks to the bulb cultivation. Part of the tour you drive along the IJsselmeer. You see nice boats passing by and there are enough quiet spots to have a picnic on a bench or just look out over the water. Maybe a three-master of the brown fleet will just pass by under full sail, a majestic sight.
