Description

In the Bommelerwaard you can enjoy panoramic views and historic towns. In Delwijnen you will see a striking elevation in the landscape at junction 23. It is a former castle hill from the tenth century. A little later you drive along the leafy Eendenkade. On the right is the Drielse Wetering, a drainage canal that was excavated as early as 1320. You pass the Delwijne Mill from 1740. A century later it was dismantled again because it had become redundant due to the rise of pumping stations. You cycle along the Waal to the old center of Zaltbommel. Step off for a moment to soak up the historic atmosphere. You drive along the floodplains to Rossum, a picturesque village where you pass a small castle. Back at Hoppies it's time for a nice terrace.
