Round Raalte and Heino

From Restaurant De Veldhoek you cycle through a varied landscape of meadows, fields and small wooded areas. From junction 27 you cycle along one of the side branches of the Overijssels Canal. This section runs from Lemelerveld to Deventer and was opened in 1858. Raalte is a nice town. You can see here, among other things, the Basilica of the Holy Exaltation of the Cross, a neo-Gothic church from 1892. Further on is the Plaskerk, which originally dates from the Middle Ages. You continue through the Salland countryside on low-traffic roads. You pass Nijenhuis Castle, one of the best-preserved manors. The castle is owned by Museum de Fundatie, you can visit it. Finally, you will pass through Heino, where you will see, among other things, the medieval Nicholas Church.
