From Wanssum through the Maasparken

The first part of the route largely cycles through a newly created nature reserve: Maaspark Ooijen-Wanssum. With 540 hectares, this is the largest contiguous area of Maas nature in North Limburg. There is a ten-thousand-year-old Meuse river course, streams and swamp forests. A beautiful and unique area that you simply must experience once! From Broekhuizen you can cross the Maas by ferry, where the next natural gem is located: the Maasduinen National Park. Here you cycle over former river dunes that are now covered by fragrant coniferous forests and fens. In between you will pass through Tuindorp, a town that still exudes a bit of the atmosphere of the 1950s. Just outside Well you will pass Well Castle, a fourteenth-century moated castle. The route ends at Wanssum Marina / Café van Wieren.
