From Wanssum through the Maasparks

The first part of the route you cycle largely through a newly developed nature reserve: Maaspark Ooijen-Wanssum. With 540 hectares this is the largest contiguous area with Maas nature in North Limburg. There is a ten thousand year old river course of the Maas, streams and swamp forests. A beautiful and unique area that you simply have to experience once! From Broekhuizen you cross the Maas with a ferry, where the next natural pearl is located: National Park de Maasduinen. You cycle here over former river dunes that are now covered by fragrant coniferous forests and fens. In between you pass Tuindorp, a town that still breathes a bit of the atmosphere of the 50s. Just outside Well you pass Kasteel Well, a fourteenth century moated castle. The route ends at Jachthaven Wanssum / Café van Wieren.
