This route first takes you on a grand tour around De Groote Peel National Park, a high moor area where peat used to be extracted. It is the only remnant of the large peat bog that used to form the border between Limburg and Brabant. When you have almost returned to Nederweert, you cycle past De Korenbloem windmill from 1870. Nederweert is a pleasant village in the Limburg Peelland. Originally, Nederweert was part of Weert, which you also cycle past. In the 14th century, these two places were separated. It used to be part of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. Only at the beginning of the 19th century did Nederweert become part of the Netherlands.
