Tour of Weert and Peel from Nederweert

This route first takes you in a big round around De Groote Peel National Park, a raised moor area where peat was formerly extracted. It is the only remnant of the large raised bog that used to form the border between Limburg and Brabant. When you have almost returned to Nederweert, you will cycle past the De Korenbloem mill from 1870. Nederweert is a pleasant village in the Limburg Peelland. Originally Nederweert was part of Weert, where you also cycle past. In the 14th century, these two places were separated. It used to be part of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. Only at the beginning of the 19th century did Nederweert become part of the Netherlands.
