Description

The first kilometers you cycle through the outskirts of Doesburg. Hanseatic city Doesburg is one of the few Dutch cities that has been preserved so well. The medieval street pattern is still completely intact. In the beautifully restored old town you will see many characteristic monumental buildings and beautiful fortifications. You drive through the humid forests of the Heekenbroek. Many butterflies live here, you may see the Emperor's Mantle fluttering by. Soon you arrive at the IJssel. It is wonderful to pedal along the banks with a view of the rippling water and the grasslands in the floodplains. In Dieren you will pass the NS station. The steam locomotives and classic carriages of the VSM, or Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij, also depart from this station. Get off in Toldijk at Café Restaurant Den Bremer!
