The Vecht region and Loosdrecht lakes

Your route starts at Hotel Flora Batava. When you cycle along the Vecht, you will understand why wealthy Amsterdam merchants had their summer residences built here in the seventeenth century. Sometimes the park forests on these country estates block the view of the meadows behind them, so that you suddenly cycle through a kind of coulisse landscape. No problem, because north of Vreeland you can fully enjoy the open view. Also when you cycle through the Loosdrechtse Plassen and along the Spiegelplas, you experience the vastness of these former peat bogs. The exploitation cost a lot of blood, sweat and tears, now you can enjoy the rippling water and the reed beds here. In between you cycle through the Spanderwoud where nature is allowed to take its own course and thus creates the feeling of a primeval forest. You complete the route and you return to Flora Batava.
