Tour of Eerde Castle and the Eersteveld

Your route starts at Camping De Blekhorst. It is wonderful to cycle around Den Ham and Ommen. Around the Overijsselse Vecht you drive through a landscape of flowery meadows, hedgerows and quiet forests. The Junne neighborhood still largely consists of old thatched Saxon farms and ash trees. In the Earlier Achterbroek you drive past Eerde Castle, which is surrounded by a moat. From the stone arch bridge you have a beautiful view of the building. The associated Earlierveld is part of Boswachterij Ommen, here you drive straight through the vast greenery. On the edge of Ommen you will see two old windmills: the Konijnenbelt from 1806, and on the other side of the river is Den Oordt, one of the few remaining hexagonal windmills in the Netherlands.
