Tour Castle Eerde and the Earlierveld

Your route starts at Camping De Blekhorst. It is wonderful cycling around Den Ham and Ommen. Around the Overijsselse Vecht you drive through a landscape of flowery meadows, hedgerows and quiet forests. Buurtschap Junne still consists largely of old thatched Saxon farms and ash trees. In the Earlier Achterbroek you drive past Kasteel Eerde, which is surrounded by a moat. From the stone arch bridge you have a nice view of the building. The associated Earlerveld is part of Boswachterij Ommen, here you drive right through the vast greenery. On the outskirts of Ommen you can see two old windmills: the Konijnenbelt from 1806, on the other side of the river is Den Oordt, one of the few remaining hexagonal windmills in the Netherlands.
