Tour of Eerde Castle and the Vroegveld

It is wonderful to cycle around Den Ham and Ommen. Around the Overijsselse Vecht you cycle through a landscape of flowery meadows, wooded banks and quiet forests. The hamlet of Junne still largely consists of old thatched Saxon farms and ash trees. In the Vroeger Achterbroek you cycle past Kasteel Eerde, which is surrounded by a moat. From the stone arch bridge you have a beautiful view of the building. The associated Vroegerveld is part of Boswachterij Ommen, here you cycle straight through the vast greenery. On the edge of Ommen you can still see two old mills: the Konijnenbelt from 1806, on the other side of the river is Den Oordt, one of the few remaining hexagonal windmills in the Netherlands.
