Tour from Landal Aelderholt. We cycled through all the leaves on a beautiful warm November day with a toddler and toddler! On two rental bikes from Landal.
Tip: if you rent a bicycle with a rear seat, first check in the bicycle shed which one you want to rent, because most have the rear seat very (!) close to the saddle. We therefore exchanged the rental bike for another one (u2050) that offered a little more space for our toddler.
The part through Oud-Aalden is very nice, what a beautiful old Drenthe image. I didn't know Drenthe yet, so this was very nice.
Then on to Boswachterij Sleenerzand. Path runs very nicely through the forest, without a road or anything next to it.
At a certain point there is a sign to the hiding place on your left. Next to a large deep pit is a board with explanations, drawings and photos of the people in hiding. Our toddler found the story - adapted by us to his age - very fascinating.
The side stitch to the hunebed was a bit more difficult to find. Look out for a fence/meadow on your right with a sign indicating a parking area, van Rymaaran. If you take that path, you will find it on the right. This is therefore different than shown on the map! When we cycled here it was muddy, full of leaves and puddles, so a tough part with a child. But since it's only a small piece, it's okay. Or else you can also do this on foot. Hunebed was also fun for the kids and also a nice place to take a break.
Back to the route for the continuation. Another beautiful stretch through the colorful forest followed. The last part went through open country. Still along quiet paths or roads. And with Wezup another beautiful Drenthe village.
Oh yes, we didn't find the first node that easy. Take a look at the map in advance, it's more convenient :-). We thought it would be on the main road, that is not the case, if you zoom in well in advance, it is simple.
Oh yes, where you have to go left after Oud Aalden to the main road, you can also go straight. I think it is a hiking trail, but more fun. Just through the greenery and along the water. Then left to get back on the intended through road.
