Tour of Doornenburg, Gelderse Poort and Elten

Your route begins at De Hazelaarshof. You'll cycle straight through the Millingerwaard region to the ferry that takes you to Doornenburg Castle. This magnificent castle is one of the largest and best-preserved in the Netherlands. A little further on, you'll discover the Rhine Strands in the Gelderse Poort, where the Rhine splits into the Waal and the Pannerden Canal. This area is no longer connected to the river. The natural environment is truly unique thanks to the seepage water from the Montferland region. Enjoy the rugged river landscape with its ancient strands, and then cycle into Germany. At the foot of the 80-meter-high Eltenerberg, you'll cycle through Elten. In Lobith, stop at the Schipperspoort: the remains of the Tolhuys castle, which stood here until the 17th century.
