\\\'t Bûtertonkje (the best cycling tour in Friesland) It Bûtertonkje (Frisian for'Lekkerbek\\\') is the tastiest cycling tour in Friesland and goes through a breathtaking landscape. The cycle tour starts in Wolsum at Kootje near the Bridge and takes you through the Frisian landscape via old dikes, roads and the most beautiful cycle paths. This also includes the beautiful Brackpad along the Oudegaaste Brack, of which the Municipality of Súdwest-Fryslân says: "the beautiful Brackpad from Oudega to Nijefurd, the most beautiful cycle path in our country" (SN 24-06 2010) . The cycle tour takes you past Workum and then via a beautiful cycle path up towards Allingawier, Exmorra and to the eleven-city Hanseatic town of Bolsward with its monuments and museums, so that you can explore 'all areas', especially the taste predominates, you get a wonderful impression of Friesland. At the same time you make use of the conveniences of the cycle route network with its signage.
There is plenty to experience and taste along the way. At the 'start or finish' you can treat yourself to a delicious coffee and homemade apple pie at Kootje bij de Brug. You can also buy home-made jams and chutney
In Blauwhuis you can visit the neo-Gothic church of master builder PJH Cuypers and in Greonterp (pronounced'krùnterp\\\') you can pause at'Huize het Gras\\\' where Gerard the Reve lived. The bell chair in Greonterp is also unique and worth seeing.
In Nijhuizum near Workum you will find Ice Cream Farm'Margje 24\\\' where you can taste delicious homemade farm ice cream, but you can also enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and the latest product: milk shakes!! I'd say try!
You continue your cycle towards Workum. If you have some time, you might want to visit the Jopie Huisman Museum or the late Gothic St. Gertrudis Church. You continue your cycling tour via junction 4 of the cycle route network towards point 2. In Allingawier you pass the Aldfaerserf where the history of farm life has been preserved. You can also experience how drabble cakes are made here. And of course you can taste dribble cakes accompanied by a cup of coffee or tea.
There are also two museums in Bolsward: It Gysbert Japicxhûs and the Titus Brandsma Museum. In addition, there are three beautiful monuments in Bolsward: the Bolsward Town Hall, the Martini Church and the Broere Church that warrant a visit. On the Jongemastraat in Bolsward you will find Slagerij Yde de Boer, which has achieved national fame with its fresh peat smoked sausage. Just buy a sausage and take it with you. You can also visit the renowned Frisian beer brewery'Us Heit\\\'. Aart van der Linden brews different types of beer here. He also gives an interesting tour for €8.50. During this tour you will receive extensive text and explanation about the history of the beer and the brewing process, past and present. After the tour you will receive a drink from your own barrel. Naturally, a piece of peat-smoked sausage tastes good with this.
You continue your route towards Nijland and Wolsum. Be rewarded with a Farmer's Ice Cream at Kootje bij de Brug!!
