Description

Your route starts at EuroParcs Bad Hoophuizen. After a nice walk through the polder you will discover Hulshorst according to Huszár. The Hungarian artist Vilmos Huszár (Budapest, 1884 - Harderwijk, 1960) left for The Hague at the beginning of the twentieth century. Around 1915 he came into contact with artists such as Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg and Bart van der Leck, with whom he founded the magazine and art movement De Stijl two years later. Due to the increasing threat of war, the Jewish Huszár and his family moved permanently to Hierden in 1940 and there provided assistance to the resistance. Then you walk on to Kasteel De Essenburgh, a fairytale castle from 1652 between forests and vast heaths. There is a monastery building of the Premonstratensians.
