Description

On the heath you can see rare butterflies such as the heath butterfly and the comma butterfly. You can also look for grasshoppers, there are special species such as the blue-winged grasshopper. This is even one of the last places in the Netherlands where you can still spot the very rare saddleback grasshopper. In the Otterlose Buurtbos you walk along the edge of the Mosselse Zand, a drifting sand area that is grazed by a herd of wild ponies and sheep. Don't be surprised if you see some deer walking around there. On the way back you will come to the cozy village of Otterlo at a listening point of the Liberation Route: L56: The Battle of Otterlo.
