Description

Your walk starts at Hotel Café Kreutzer. You can walk straight into Belgium here! The Teuvenerberg Forest Reserve is home to special animals such as dormouse, a rare dormouse. You will also see the typical sunken roads. You walk into the adjacent Upper Forest, which is also beautiful. You are here in the Voerstreek. This part of Belgian Limburg is lovely, quiet and is characterized by forest areas on and around the hills, interspersed with heathland. You will also walk past Sinnich Abbey, whose origins date back to the thirteenth century. You walk back to Slenaken via the villages of Teuven and Nurop. A shortcut through the Groote Bosch takes you back to your starting point, a typical sloped forest as you still encounter here and there in South Limburg.
