Church route Appeltern and Bergharen

Your route starts at Hill\\\'s. In picturesque Batenburg you seem to take a leap back in time. There are so many beautiful old buildings here! You can see the Old St. Victor Church and the ruins of Batenburg Castle: one of the oldest castles in Gelderland. At Appeltern you will pass Stoomgemaal De Tuut: the only one of the 34 steam pumping stations in the Gelderland river area that still exists. Then you drive over the dike along the Gouden Ham, a former Meuse meander. You have beautiful views over the water, and you also see some beautiful monumental farms. No matter how small Horssen is, there are no fewer than three churches on the Kerkpad within a short distance of each other! Finally, you will pass the Kapelberg Bergharen, an inspiring resting point full of history.
