Tour Steile Oever, Eerde Castle and Archem

Your route starts at Camping and Chalet Park Bergzicht. You soon pass the cut arm of the Regge at the Steile Oever. The Eerde estate once counted 150 hectares, from the Vecht to the Regge. Although the estate has lost some ground, the castle is still just as imposing. Huis Eerde was already known in 1227 and was expanded into a castle in 1380. The castle was besieged, plundered, burned down and rebuilt many times, until it took on its current form in 1715. Since 1934, an International School has been housed in the former nobleman's residence. There is also a hall house farm from the 8th century on the estate. You walk back along the Archemerberg, part of a moraine that was created in the last ice age.
