Tour of House Overcinge near Havelte

You walk through the beautiful Drenthe village to Huis Overcinge, a monumental mansion. It was originally a fief of the Gelderland house of Putten near Elburg and was already mentioned in the early 14th century. In the 15th century, the De Vos van Steenwijk family was feudal lord of the estate. However, the current house Overcinge is from a much later date. In the 17th century the fief was in the hands of the Struuck family. The land scribe of Drenthe, Johan Struuck, had the existing buildings demolished and two new buildings built. He mentioned his father, the Drenthe deputy Gerhardt Struuck, as the builder of Overcinge.
