Along the Vecht between Breukelen and Loenen aan de Vecht

You start your route at Hotel Flora Batava. You immediately turn right towards Nieuwersluis. On your right you will first see the Overholland country estate, then the country house'\\\'Sterreschans\\\'\\\' which has been inhabited since 1688. Next to it is the Rupelmonde country estate. This country house is named after a Belgian village, the main building was expanded around 1750. You enter the village of Nieuwersluis and here you will find Fort Nieuwersluis. This is an old Fort that was dug in 1446. It was built to make the connection between the Vecht and the Angstel between Amsterdam, Muiden and Utrecht run more smoothly. After the Fort and the Bistrotel you leave the road and continue along the Vecht via the towpath to the village of Loenen aan de Vecht. In the village of Loenen aan de Vecht you cross the Vecht. Then you walk along the Vecht over the Zandpad. This way you can better see the country houses on the other side. But you will also see various country estates from the 17th century. Then on the corner of the bridge street (with the bridge) you will see an old knight's manor. Knight's manor Gunterstein was built in 1680 on the ruins of a medieval castle from 1300 that was demolished in 1511 to use the stones for something else. A park was added in the 19th century. Now you walk through the village of Breukelen and then you are back at the Hotel Flora Batava.
