In the wake of WWII at Dieren

Your route starts at Restaurant de Luchte. In Dieren, discover one of the listening points of the Liberation Route, L24: Bridge to Freedom. At this location you will learn more about the retreat of the Germans from Dieren. During Operation Market Garden, one of the largest airborne operations in history took place here in this region. Nearby you will discover the Monument Noodbrug in Dieren, at the lock in the Apeldoorn canal. In the spring of 1945, the people of Dieren and Spankeren built an emergency bridge over the lock here, so that Canadian and British troops could come into contact with each other. You walk through the heart of the cozy Dieren to Monument Carolinapark Dieren, in the park. This monument was also erected in commemoration of the Second World War.
