Walking through the Weerribben

From Landwinkel and Camping Waterbuffelfarm you can walk straight into the Weerribben. Put on your sturdy and waterproof hiking boots for a trip full of natural beauty! First you walk on a quiet and tree-lined path along the meadows. You then walk through the Braambos, after which you walk along the Steenwijk-Ossenzijl Canal. Here you have a nice view over the rippling water and reed collars. From junction D23 you walk through the Woldlake forest, which is part of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. You walk here through a mosaic of swamp forest, ditches and reed beds. Many butterflies and dragonflies live in this area. You pass the Tjasker Kalenberg from 1963, further on is the Wicher, a spinning head mill from 1982. There are also a number of authentic monumental peat houses on the path.
