Enjoyment in the Netherlands and across the border

It is nice and quiet cycling around Roosendaal. You drive here through charming Brabant villages and hamlets, through the Rucphense Bossen and the Dal van de Molenbeek.

You start and end the route in the village of Zegge. In the area you can see a striking remnant from the time when this area was cultivated for agriculture: almost all roads and canals are straight and run from west to east. The main street of the village is perpendicular to these roads.

The Rucphense Bossen were originally a cover sand ridge on which heath and shifting sand areas lay. In the early twentieth century, the area was planted with coniferous trees such as Scots pine, Douglas fir and European larch. Nowadays you can also see deciduous trees, grasslands and oak coppices. In this wonderfully quiet nature reserve, the kilometers seem to slip under your wheels by themselves.

After a trip through Belgium, you drive through the village of Nispen into the Valley of the Molenbeek. This humid nature reserve is located along the banks of the Watermolenbeek. You will see pollard trees, old drinking pools, hay meadows, but also newly planted deciduous forests. Via the course of the meandering Watermolenbeek you enter Roosendaal, where the Dal van de Molenbeek continues as a city park to the pleasant center.
