You can discover Tilburg's beer hotspot before you even drive into the city. Trappist beer has been brewed at Koningshoeven Abbey since 1884: La Trappe. This still happens within the walls of the abbey, under the supervision of a monk. The beers are brewed according to a secret recipe, using only natural ingredients. A tour is a must for beer lovers. Of course followed by a visit to the Tasting Room.
The beer route then leads you through the center. Biercafe Kandinsky is a 'golden oldie'. With more than 350 types of beer you can really explore here, they are happy to advise you. You will find both Belgian classics and new craft beers there. Order a Kandinsky platter with Trappist cheese and sausage.
Many nice new addresses have been opened in the Spoorzone in recent years. Like breweries. At Stoom 013 they work with organic products and ingredients, as much locally as possible so that they can stock up on it themselves (by bike). A few steps away is LOC Brewery. Even more delicious beer, but also the much-needed burgers and bitterballen, can be found at the nice and rough RAW.
Another nice area under development is the Piushaven. This is where Stadsbrouwerij 013 is located. Both its own beer and other local beers fill the twenty taps in the tasting room. They also serve unique bottled beers and make hoptails. Be surprised by all the special flavors that arise from combining beer and cuisine with the special food pairing menu, put together by the beer sommelier and chef.
Then spend the night at Stadscamping Tilburg. Camping in the city, so you can walk to the campsite with a beer. What a party. This city campsite in Tilburg's Spoorpark (near the Spoorzone!) has room for about 25 tents. In the park you will also find the relaxed restaurant Het T-huis, the Kempentoren lookout tower, an Urban Sports Area with skating rink and pump track and a beach volleyball court.
