From the tranquil nature of the Leudal to the bustling heart of the city of Roermond: with this route you will discover all the historical highlights. An ancient watermill, castles, churches, a cathedral... it's impossible to go wrong!
Your route starts at Visitor Center Leudal, where you can immediately find out everything about the nature reserve you are cycling through today. Then you dive into the forest via a beautiful path to one of the most beautiful spots on the route: the Leumolen, a historic water mill on the Leubeek (which is called Tungelroyse stream more to the west). Here you will find a rough field with benches to enjoy the special atmosphere in peace.
In charming old Roermond you cycle past the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Munsterkerk, one of the most beautiful remains of Romanesque architecture in the Netherlands. A little further on is another architectural gem: St. Christopher's Cathedral, a Gothic cruciform basilica from 1410. Just before the end of the route you will discover Kasteel Horn: one of the oldest, still intact medieval ring wall fortresses in the Netherlands.
