Onze Lieve Vrouwe Munsterkerk

The Munsterkerk is the most important church in Roermond. It is a cross basilica, built in the thirteenth century and restored by architect Pierre Cuypers in the years 1864-1891. The late Romanesque church was built as part of a Cistercian women's abbey. This Munsterabdij was founded around 1218 by Count Gerard III of Gelre, who is buried here together with his wife. Their tombs can still be seen in the church. For the current opening hours of the Munsterkerk, visit https://www.roermondparochiecluster.nl/parochies/munsterkerk.
