This route takes you past the castles and estates west of Lochem.

  • The picturesque village of Almen is located between the Twente Canal and the Berkel River, in the middle of an agricultural area and beautiful estates and nature reserves. The Protestant village church contains a crypt with mummified bodies. However, these cannot be viewed.
  • At junction 44 we find the Warkense Molen . The windmill turns and with sufficient wind the mill also operates. Many old baker's tools and machines can be seen in the museum. Part of it has also been furnished as a nostalgic bakery shop with an old counter and cash register.
  • Den Bramel Castle is a country estate and former castle, the first mention of which dates back to 1396. The current building dates from the beginning of the eighteenth century. In 1868 the house was fitted with a neo-Renaissance stepped gable. The slate roof and beautiful little tower were installed in 1881. The estate is open to the public, but the castle and surrounding gardens are private grounds.
  • Vorden Castle was already mentioned in the 12th century, but it was very different then than it is today. the square tower was at least part of the medieval structure, but the castle as we see it today was largely built in the 16th century. The castle was converted into a country house in the 19th century.
  • Molen Ons Belang is located in the hamlet of Linde. This mill was built here in 1890 as a replacement for a grist mill built in 1856 that was destroyed by fire. This mill can rotate, but is used for other purposes. A theater is currently located in the mill on the ground floor.
  • House Velhorst - located between KP 46 and 16 - was donated to Natuurmonumenten in 1972. The name was first used in 1506. Around the country house there is a park garden with a pond, beech avenues, rhododendrons and azaleas. Velhorst House cannot be visited. On the estate you will see authentic farms with painted shutters, hedgerows, orchards and flowery grasslands. Kienveen is a vulnerable, moist area with many frogs and special plants.
  • The Staring Dome - located between KP 16 and 17 - can be reached via a self-crossing ferry across the Berkel. The tea dome was built 150 years ago by the youngest daughter of the poet ACW Staring. From the small elevation on which the dome is located you have a beautiful view over the Berkel and the wooded areas of the Velhorst and the Boekhorst.
  • The vineyard"De Broake\\\" is located between Laren and Harfsen (Deventerweg 88). Definitely recommended to visit here and taste the delicious wines.
