Description

Shortly after boarding you will encounter the first historical attraction: the Westfriese Omringdijk, the only monumental dike in the world. A little later you cycle through the vast Wieringermeerpolder. This was constructed in 1930 on part of the former Zuiderzee. Two years later, Middenmeer was constructed on this new land, modeled on a green village. Further on you drive through the picturesque Kolhorn, an old fishing village that was located on the Zuiderzee until 1844. In the Weere you will pass some beautiful bell-shaped farms. There is also a part of the former Schagen - Wognum tram track here, which was in use between 1898 and 1930. Finally you pass through Hoogwoud. Here you will see a flour mill from 1650, a village church from 1680 and a former town hall from 1742. Beautiful!
