De Ster (romp/restant)

Visit the website
Molen De Ster was built in 1907 in the town of Barsingerhorn. It was not the first mill in this town. At the end of the 19th century, there was already a flour mill here, but that mill burned down in 1907. The mill owner at the time bought a second-hand mill that was located in Zaandam. In 1907 the mill was demolished and moved to Barsingerhorn. The mill was then immediately converted from hulling mill to flour mill and mill De Ster was born. This mill was also destroyed by fire, but only partially. An engine then took over the work of the blades, but the mill did not have to be demolished. In 1996 the mill got a new owner and then the mill was restored. The mill has never been fully restored to its former glory. This also explains why now only the hull of the mill is still standing.
