Your route starts at Restaurant-Bar De Riete on the Brink, the beautifully restored green village square of Dwingeloo. From here you walk through National Park Dwingelderveld, a unique nature reserve of mixed forests, sand drifts and wet heathland. Looking out over the large heathland you experience a silence so rare in the Netherlands. The adder, the smooth snake and the grass snake are no exception here, while shy deer hide between the trees. You might also see a herd of Drenthe heath sheep. Time seems to have stood still in Lhee, you see beautiful monumental farms there. Dwingeloo is one of the most beautiful brink villages in Drenthe. Back at your starting point on the Brink you can see why this part is a protected village view. You can spot the striking St. Nicholas Church there, among other things.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
