Tour of Dwingelderveld and Lhee

Your route starts at Restaurant-Bar De Riete on the Brink, the beautifully restored green village square of Dwingeloo. From here you walk through Dwingelderveld National Park, a unique nature reserve of mixed forests, sand drifts and wet heathland. Looking out over the large heathland you experience a silence that is so rare in the Netherlands. The viper, the smooth snake and the grass snake are no exception here, while skittish deer hide between the trees. You might also see a flock of Drenthe heath sheep. Time seems to have stood still in Lhee, you will see beautiful monumental farms. Dwingeloo is one of the most beautiful green villages in Drenthe. Back at your starting point at the Brink you can see why this part is a protected village view. You will spot the striking St. Nicholas Church there.
