Description

Your route starts at RG Tweewielers. The employees of the nearby Paleis Het Loo used to live in Wiesel. Every year the Orange Festival is celebrated here in the first weekend of September to commemorate Queen Wilhelmina's birthday. It is a beautifully preserved hamlet. At the small town of Niersen you drive a bit into the woods of the Veluwe. The sixteenth-century Castle de Cannenburgh was built on the remains of an earlier, probably fourteenth-century castle. In 1543, the then ruins fell into the hands of the well-known warlord Maarten van Rossum. He ordered the castle to be rebuilt, but died before its completion. A little further on you will see Daam's mill, which was raised by 4.90 meters in 2012 to catch enough wind again.
