Description

Your cycling tour starts at Tourism Poperinge. The city center of Poperinge has three large Gothic churches, a beautiful sight! At junction 98 you will discover the brewery of the Sint Sixtus Abbey in Westvleteren. This property is owned by the Cistercians of the Strict Observance, also known as the Trappists. The three hallmarks of the Trappist life are a life devoted to prayers, reading and manual labor. The Trappist beer from this brewery is considered one of the tastiest in the world. Back in Poperinge, take a look at the Hop Museum, which focuses on hop cultivation in Poperinge. How did they start this cultivation? What's so special about it? A gigantic collection of more than 2000 beers shows you which beers are brewed in Belgium!
