Explore authentic Amsterdam and its surroundings

This route takes you from the heart of Amsterdam to the countryside around Amstelveen. But first you will loosen up your legs, while cycling through the stately Oud-Zuid. Further on you will cycle a bit through the Amsterdamse Bos, after which you will cycle through the old heart of Amstelveen. You will pass the Grote Poel, a nineteenth-century peat excavation. In Oosteinderpoel you will see primeval forests, hayfields and the Zwarte Ruiter: a corn mill from 1778 that is now inhabited. In Aalsmeer you will cycle along the Westeinderplassen. Via Kwakel you will cycle to the Amstel. Along the banks you will cycle back towards Amsterdam, while enjoying the peace and the characteristic view over the polder. Via the Amstelpark and through the Rivierenbuurt you will cycle back to Banks Mansion.
