Municipality of Tubbergen, Rich in glass and mills

The route starts at the Tourist Office of the municipality of Tubbergen, Raadhuisplein 4, 7651 CV Tubbergen. near junction 21.

General: The municipality of Tubbergen is located in Northeast Twente, where together with the municipalities of Dinkelland, Losser and Oldenzaal it forms the National Landscape of Northeast Twente.

With its 4 watermills and 3 windmills, the municipality of Tubbergen is one of the few municipalities in the Netherlands with so many working mills. The municipality of Tubbergen is also known for its event"Glasrijk\\\".

The first weekend in October is all about the theme of Glass. Special exhibitions in both indoor and outdoor locations, for young and old.

Dismounters

1. St. Pancratius Basilica, Grotestraat 64 in Tubbergen.

The Pancratius Basilica has the honorary title of "basilica minor". Five generations of the Nicolas family of glass painters produced the stained glass windows, eight of which depict the Apocalypse.

2. The Kroezeboom at Fleringen on the Lansinksweg is the oldest oak in Overijssel. The Kroezeboom is approximately 750 years old. The chapel under this majestic oak dates from 1944.

3. Village Vasse, Denekamperweg (municipality Tubbergen). The village Vasse is situated in a beautiful ash landscape interspersed with wooded banks, forest and heathland and has several watermills such as De Mast, Bels and Frans.

4. Grote Geesterse Molen, Hardendenbergerweg 92 in Geesteren. The Grote Geesterse Molen in Geesteren is an octagonal smock mill that stands on a belt (hill). The mill dates from 1876.
