A tour of Brielle, Oostvoorne and Heenvliet

Under the smoke of the Rotterdam port area you can enjoy cycling in a surprisingly green and quiet area: Voorne-Putten. You drive through a landscape where fields, dikes, nature reserves and sights alternate. The route starts and ends in Spijkenisse. You can see many birds between Spijkenisse and Zuidland. They feel at home in the wet polders and around the creeks with their wide reed zones. The largely seventeenth-century fortress of Brielle is one of the best-preserved fortifications in the Netherlands. The fortress belt has been restored, you can admire nine bastions and five ravelins. Be sure to stroll around and taste the atmosphere. In the old village center is the restored ruin of the medieval Jacobaburcht, the country residence of Jacoba van Beieren. Get off at Markt1 in the beautiful old Heenvliet!
