Grebbelinie tour from Amersfoort

The route starts at Leerhotel Het Klooster. Explore the Gelderse Vallei by bike. Along the way you can enjoy endless views in a landscape that mainly consists of meadows and the tranquil valleys of the Barneveldse Beek and the Esvelderbeek. Part of the route you cycle along the bank of the Valleikanaal, a watercourse that formed an important part of the Grebbe Line. The function of the canal is to drain the Gelderland valley, to prevent flooding. In the landscape you can still see dozens of casemates that serve as silent witnesses to the battle that took place here during the Second World War.
