Description
When you think of Rotterdam, you probably immediately think of the port. Rotterdam is the largest port and industrial complex in Europe. Part of this walking route takes you along the water.
Bookstore Donner
The city consists of a core and many small islands in the Nieuwe Maas. These parts of the city are connected by bridges. During this walk you walk through the Oude West, a district in Rotterdam that borders the city center. When you walk along the water, you look out over Noordereiland, which is on the other side of the Maas. You will also pass SS Rotterdam, a beautiful steamship at anchor. Here you can sit comfortably with a snack and a drink. From here you walk to the Donner bookstore. Browse through the books here to stock up on reading material for after the walk.
The Euromast
Another attraction in Rotterdam is of course the Euromast. This tower was built in 1960 on the occasion of the Floriade. The Euromast looks like a gigantic ship's mast and on the ship's bridge at 32 meters you will find navigation equipment and a chart room. Climb the Euromast during your walk and enjoy the view. In clear weather you can see 30 kilometers away.
