Through and around the Anna Paulownapolder

Cycle through the Anna Paulownapolder, the last polder to be constructed with private money. The sandy soils of the former Westpolder proved to be well suited for flower bulb cultivation in 1912. The splendor of colors of tulips, carnations and other flowers is still proof of this. You will pass one bulb field after another, because this is the largest contiguous bulb area in the world. More than 5,000 hectares of horticultural land stretches out, ready to be explored on your steel steed. You can also visit a windmill in the village of Anna Paulowna. The Leonide looks like a traditional sawmill, but has never had a grinding function. The tower mill was built in 2002 for living purposes. Apart from the top wheel, there are no other drive parts in the mill. The parts of the Leonide are second-hand. The octagon, for example, comes from the former polder mill De Zeemeeuw in Uithuizen.
