It is wonderful to cycle in the polders around the river Lek. Here you will find an almost old-fashioned peace and space. And of course historic windmills!
Old polder mills
With a ferry you cross the Lek, an experience that will never lose its charm. You cycle through an open landscape that is intersected by countless waterways. You regularly pass a monumental windmill. Such as the Broekmolen, a beautiful polder mill from 1581.
Silver City
Schoonhoven is known for its goldsmiths. Schoonhovens Edelambachtshuys is housed in a synagogue from 1838. Here you will find the largest collection of antique Schoonhovens silver, with pieces from the period 1600-1930. Well worth a visit! Further on is the Veerpoort, the only one of the original five city gates that has survived.
