Along Twente water to Ootmarsum

Along the water and through the surprising Twente landscape with its many water monuments, you cycle straight through Roman Denekamp towards Ootmarsum. You pass the Diversion Canal, dug to control the once wild Dinkel. Along the way you will pass Rodenmors, a good example of the sustainability cycle: A water extraction area right next to a water treatment plant. Continue along the Dinkel. It is difficult to cycle on the towpath with a headwind, but think of our ancestors who had to pull the peat barges here, with or without the help of horses. Lush overgrown banks, frolicking butterflies, cheerful notes of the chiffchaff and beautiful views. Before you know it you will be in literally and figuratively picturesque Ootmarsum. On a terrace you can really take in the decor.
