Along Twente water to Ootmarsum

Along the water and through the surprising Twente landscape with its many water monuments you cycle straight through the Roman Catholic Denekamp towards Ootmarsum. You pass the Diversion Canal, dug to keep the once wild Dinkel under control. On the way you pass Rodenmors, a beautiful example of the sustainability cycle: a water extraction area right next to a water purification plant. Further along the Dinkel. With a headwind it is difficult to cycle on the towpath, but think of our ancestors who had to pull the peat ships here, with or without the help of horses. Lushly overgrown banks, frolicking butterflies, cheerful notes of the chiffchaff and beautiful vistas. Before you know it you are in the literally and figuratively picturesque Ootmarsum. On a terrace you can really let the scenery sink in.
