Hasselt, the Capital of Taste

Herkenrode Abbey
The starting point of the route is right in the center of Hasselt. Just outside the city you cycle across the domain of the Abbey of Herkenrode. Nothing remains of the original twelfth-century abbey, but you can admire buildings from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century. Then you pass Limburg Lavendel. At this lavender farm you will spontaneously imagine yourself in Provence. You can dream away between the lavender fields or let yourself be guided through the garden and the distillation room. In the accompanying shop you can buy all kinds of products with the soothing scent of lavender.

Places of interest around Hasselt
During the route you will pass several beautiful sights: the water castle Mariaburcht Achter, the Castle of Wideux and the Van Veldeke mill, a former water mill. A few kilometers further you will cycle into the Herk valley. Here you can see cultivated poplars, pollard willows and hedges. The bike tour ends again in'the Capital of Taste\\\' Hasselt. Settle down in one of the many restaurants for a tasty dinner and a Belgian beer. You can also enjoy shopping in Hasselt.
