Walk from De Rijp to Eilandspolder and enjoy an open and wide panorama. The meadow area attracts many birds such as the curlew and the black-tailed godwit, but water birds also paddle happily on the many lakes and wide waterways. The call of reed warblers can be heard between the feathers of the reed lands and makes for a wonderful walk. Further east, the Eilandspolder has been developed by Staatsbosbeheer as a bird area. Here the polder has a marshy and more vegetated character, where the waterways become smaller and the birds are more sheltered. You can rent bicycles, canoes, whisper boats or rowing boats in various places. The cafes have jetties where you can moor and it is also very nice to visit the birdwatching hut on the ring dike of the Schermer.
