Walk from De Rijp to Eilandspolder and enjoy an open and wide panorama. The meadow area attracts many birds such as the curlew and the godwit, but water birds also enjoy paddling on the many lakes and wide waterways. The calls of reed warblers sound through the plumes of the reedlands and make for a wonderful walk. Further to the east, the Eilandspolder has been established as a bird area by Staatsbosbeheer. Here the polder has a marshy and more overgrown character, where the canals become smaller and the birds can be more sheltered and hidden. The many cycling and walking paths make the area very accessible. You can rent bicycles, canoes, whisper boats or rowing boats at various places. The cafes have scaffolding where you can moor and it is also very nice to visit the bird watching hut on the ring dike of the Schermer. In any case: it is best to take a walk through Eilandspolder armed with binoculars, so that you can occasionally take a quiet look at the many natural inhabitants of the polder area. The route ends at Het Wapen van Munster. The menu consists of refined dishes, many of which incorporate fresh regional products. In the informal, friendly atmosphere you can enjoy an extensive dish or a smaller snack and one of the wines from the extensive wine list, while the cozy bar invites you to order a delicious cold beer or a glass of lemonade.
During the breeding season from March 15 to June 15, you cannot walk between junctions 53 and 42.
