Bicycle route Scherpenzeel, Grebbelinie and Renswoude

Between Amersfoort, Barneveld, and Renswoude, you will enjoy a relaxed day of cycling. Here, you ride through a landscape of grasslands, fields, and small woodlands and heathlands. In Scherpenzeel, you pass the beautiful Reformed Church from 1300, among other landmarks. Next, you pick up the path that runs along the Valleikanaal. This waterway was part of the former Grebbelinie, the forward defense of the Dutch Water Line. The Republic of the Seven United Netherlands began construction of the Grebbelinie in 1745; in 2011, it was granted national monument status because it serves as a unique showcase of defensive works. Just outside Amersfoort, you ride through the De Schammer nature reserve. From junction 47, you cycle through Kallenbroek, a well-preserved rural landscape with streams and forests. Via Renswoude, you ride to Restaurant De Dennen.
