Bicycle route Scherpenzeel, Barneveld and Renswoude

In the Gelderse Vallei, you will find an abundance of natural beauty. For example, you cycle along the Valleikanaal, which was completed in its current form around 1936, although parts of the canal are a few centuries older. The canal's purpose was to drain the Gelderse Vallei; later, it was incorporated into the Grebbelinie. Just past Achterveld, you pass the 15th-century Den Olden Florus, one of the oldest surviving post mills in the Netherlands. A little later, you cycle through Kallenbroek, an authentic rural landscape. On the outskirts of Barneveld, you pass Landgoed Schaffelaar. The current residence dates from 1850 and stands out due to its Neo-Tudor style. In Renswoude, too, you can see a beautiful residence: the current Renswoude Castle dates from 1654. The route ends with a meal at Restaurant De Dennen.
