Nature on the border of the Achterhoek and Twente

Your route starts at Boerderijappartementen & Camping't Katreel. Cycle through a landscape with countless streams, hedgerows, ponds and triangular meadows and agricultural land. The domain of Het Lankheet has mixed forests, where, among other things, old pine trees grow on drifting sands. An old irrigation system has been restored to its former glory and the badger has made its comeback. The cycle route takes you to Haaksbergen, where you can view the Oostendorpermolen. The old oil mill was built in 1548 to replace a mill that stood upstream at the Vedderbrug. The water mill was washed away by a flood in 1946, but in 1950 the current, equally authentic-looking building was built. The flour and grain from the corn mill goes to a local baker and is also sold in the mill.
