Forests, heathland, river dunes, fens and meadows... cycling across the Looierheide and through the Broekhuizerbroek you will encounter a colorful palette of natural beauty. Special plants, a wide diversity of mushrooms and many species of birds are found in this picturesque part of Limburg. The Broekhuizerbroek extends on the other side of the Maas. The old Maas meanders provide a unique piece of nature here. In the middle of the meander is a high drifting sand ridge called De Hondsberg. Halfway through the tour you will pass De Gun castle farm. The beautiful building flaunts itself on the edge of a high terrace at the edge of an old Meuse meander. Pay attention to the details, such as the beautiful brickwork under the eaves.
