Tour of Lutterzand from Denekamp

Sand drifts, heathlands and forests with birches and oaks that are intersected by the Dinkel. This ancient river winds its way through the Lutterzand and moves half a meter every year, pushing through the sand. The steep banks along the stream serve as a nesting place for the sand martin, but the kingfisher and the great yellow wagtail also whistle the highest song in the Lutterzand. The observant cyclist will see the juniper thickets, which are rare in the Netherlands. Due to the special composition of the Lutterzand, the area was designated as a geological monument in 2007. Southeast of Oldenzaal you cycle through the grasslands of Boerskotten, in all the peace and space you could wish for. Bell gentian and orchids wave between the grass.
