Tour of Oldenzaal and Ootmarsum

The route starts at Eetcafe Plexat/Steaks & Bites. You cycle straight through Oldenzaal to Ootmarsum. Here you will find the charming small-scale character that is so characteristic of the region. Around 770, one of the first churches in Twente was built here and in the Middle Ages, trade in Ootmarsum flourished due to the town's favourable location. The rise of industry in Twente passed Ootmarsum by, which is why it has retained its former charm. The old nostalgic city centre revives old times. You cycle there, as it were, 'back in time'. Country estate Egheria was built in 1908 by textile manufacturer Hendrikus Egbertus ten Cate. 'Egheria' is named after the first names of his sons Egbert, Hendrik, Richard and Arnold. Leonard Springer built the park in 1911.
