Past country houses on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug

Your cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at SPOTT Eten & Drinken, right next to a parking lot. From here, explore the beautiful forests and stately country estates of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The Zuylestein Estate, which you will encounter further along during the cycle tour, is already mentioned in writings from 1381. Another beautiful country estate located on this cycle route is Parc Broekhuizen. The medieval castle was transformed into a white country house in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Country house Darthuizen is the next highlight. There is now nothing left of the original castle; only the authentic gatehouse is still recognizable. Originally there was a homestead here, but it was replaced in 1918 by the house that stands there now. There is also a sheepfold on the estate.
