Country house
Parc Broekhuizen
There was already a castle on the Broekhuizen estate in the Middle Ages. This castle was transformed into a private house in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. First the old castle was replaced by a white country house and later that country house was expanded. This created a three-storey building with a striking center section. The manor then burned down completely in 1906, but has since been restored to its former glory. Until 1965 the house was in the hands of different owners. After that, Broekhuizen came into the hands of the government, which established the National Institute for Nature Management there. They then sold the country house to Staatsbosbeheer and the house is now in the hands of a new owner. The mansion has been completely renovated inside in the meantime.
